1. Topic Content and Scope of Application 1.1 Topic Content This standard specifies the method of measuring water temperature using a water temperature gauge, deep water thermometer, or inverted thermometer. 1-2 Scope of Application This standard is applicable to the determination of well water, river water, lake and reservoir water, as well as seawater temperature. Principle 2: At the water sample collection site, a specialized mercury thermometer is used to directly measure and read the water temperature. 3 Instruments 3.1 Water Temperature Gauge: Suitable for measuring the surface temperature of water. See Figure 1. The mercury thermometer is installed in a specially designed metal casing with a window hole for thermometer reading. The casing has a lifting ring at the upper end for tying the rope, and a metal cylinder with a hole is screwed tightly at the lower end of the casing to hold water. The ball of the water thermometer should be located in the center of the metal cylinder. The measurement site range is 6~+40 ℃, with a division value of 0.2 ℃ and a depth thermometer of 3-2; Suitable for measuring water temperature within a water depth of 40 meters. See Figure 2. Its structure is similar to that of a water temperature gauge. The water filled round jar is large and has upper and lower valves that automatically open and close when placed in water and lifted, filling the jar with water samples of the measured temperature. The range of lake velvet is 2~+40 ℃. The graduation value is 0.2 ℃. 3.3 Inverted thermometer (closed type) is suitable for measuring the water temperature of each layer with a water depth of more than 40 meters. See Figure 3. The closed turbulent (anti pressure) inverted thermometer consists of a main thermometer and an auxiliary thermometer assembled in a thick walled glass casing, forming a completely closed V-casing at both ends. The measurement range of the main temperature if is -2~+32 ℃, with a graduation value of 0.10 ℃. The measurement range of the auxiliary temperature gauge is -20~+50 ℃, with a graduation value of 0.5 ℃. The mercury column of the main temperature gauge should be flexible in fracture, and the breakpoint position should be fixed. The temperature gauge should be reset, and all the molten silver should be refluxed when receiving it. The main and auxiliary temperature gauges should be firmly fixed. The inverted thermometer needs to be installed on the inverted water sampler for use. Note. The water temperature gauge or inverted thermometer should be regularly verified by the metrological verification department
