This standard specifies two methods for the preparation of fatty acid methyl bin, namely boron trifluoride method and potassium hydroxide hydrogen chloride method, as well as the quantitative analysis of fatty acids in fats using gas chromatography equipped with capillary columns and flame ionization detectors. This standard is applicable to the determination of fatty acids in animal and plant fats, oils and mixed fatty acids used in animal feed formulation, as well as extracts containing fatty acids (including fats and fatty acid mixtures containing butyric acid).
