BAIJIAN - a professional third-party testing and inspection platform that provides relevant testing and inspection services such as water quality para
In water quality testing, we often hear about detecting chromaticity, turbidity, residual chlorine, etc. So how many parameters must be met to meet the standard? Today, we will introduce it. Chromaticity: If the chromaticity of drinking water is greater than 15 degrees, most people can perceive it, and when it is greater than 30 degrees, people will feel disgusted. The standard stipulates that the chromaticity of drinking water should not exceed 15 degrees. Turbidity: Used to indicate the clarity and turbidity of water. It is one of the important indicators for measuring water quality. It is also an important basis for evaluating the purification efficiency of water treatment equipment and evaluating the status of water treatment technology. The decrease in turbidity refers to the decrease in the content of organic matter, bacteria, viruses and other microorganisms in the water body, which not only improves the disinfection and sterilization effect, but also helps to reduce the production of halogenated organic compounds. Residual chlorine: Residual chlorine refers to the amount of residual chlorine in water after being disinfected with chlorine and exposed to it for a certain period of time. The continuous sterilization ability of water can prevent self pollution of water supply pipelines and ensure water quality. Chemical Oxygen Demand (COD): Refers to the amount of oxygen required by chemical oxidants to oxidize organic pollutants in water. The higher the chemical oxygen consumption, the more organic pollutants in the water. The organic pollutants in water mainly come from the discharge of domestic sewage or industrial wastewater, as well as the decomposition of animals and plants before flowing into the water body. Total coliform group: It is an indicator of fecal pollution, and detection can indicate whether there is fecal pollution and the degree of pollution in the water body. In the process of water purification, if the total coliform index can meet the requirements of drinking water standards after disinfection treatment, it means that other pathogenic bacteria have been basically eliminated. The testing standard shall not exceed 3/L. Heat-resistant coliform group: It can better reflect the degree of food pollution caused by human and animal feces than the coliform group, and is also an indicator of water fecal pollution. The bacteria contained in water come from air, soil, sewage, garbage, and dead animals and plants. There are various types of bacteria in water, including pathogenic bacteria. The standard for drinking water in China is that the total number of bacteria in 1ml of water does not exceed 100. Odor and Odor: Odor is one of the necessary testing items for detecting raw water and treated water. The odor of water is mainly due to the presence of organic matter, which may be caused by increased biological activity or industrial pollution. The odor in water mainly comes from pollutants in domestic sewage and industrial wastewater, the decomposition of natural substances, or related microbial activities. The change in the normal odor of publicly available water may be a signal of changes in raw water quality or insufficient water treatment. Odorless and odorless water cannot guarantee safety, but it is beneficial for drinkers to trust the water quality. Due to the complexity of most odors and the low detectable concentration, it is difficult to separate and identify the substances that produce odors. Testing odors is also a means of evaluating water treatment effectiveness and tracking pollution sources
