Xidu Lake Wine, a specialty of Xidu Town, Hengyang County, Hunan Province, is a national geographical indication product of China. The wine of Xidu Lake belongs to sweet yellow wine, formerly known as Linghu wine, Lingjiu, Lingzhou wine, and Hengjiu. The name originates from Linghu Lake in Hengyang. Hengyang has a long history of wine production, with the wine produced on the west bank of Linghu Lake being the most famous. Its wine making technique was recorded in the "Qi Min Yao Shu" written by Jia Sixie of the Northern Wei Dynasty and referred to as the "Linghu Wine Method", forming the unique and charming "Linghu" style of Chinese yellow wine, which is "bright in color, mellow and fragrant, thick but not greasy, round and rich, clear and refreshing, and not top-notch". It has become a palace tribute wine that lasted for more than 2000 years from the Western Han Dynasty to the Qing Dynasty, and has never declined.
