The principle is to decompose sample v using the dry ashing method. Under alkaline conditions, potassium permanganate is used to oxidize chromium ions in the ash solution to hexavalent chromium ions. Then, the solution is adjusted to acidity, causing the hexavalent chromium ions to form a rose red chromium complex with diphenylcarbamate. Colorimetric measurements are conducted to determine the chromium content.
